History
The name of the university goes back to the best traditions of Gdansk Gymnasium, which was founded in Gdansk as early as in the year 1558, later to be called Gdansk Ateneum throughout the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Ateneum – University In Gdansk, has already a remarked tradition of excellence in Higher Education. Referring to the great history of Gdansk Ateneum, well-known and respected in the past centuries, the university itself can trace its roots back to 2004 when it was registered in the Polish Register of Non-Public Universities. Since then it has been extending its education offer and currently attracts students with as significant and presently desired faculties as European Studies, Journalism and Social Communication, to mention only few of those that can make an academic adventure at the Ateneum – University in Gdansk worthwhile.
